Nehuian Anaya is a multidisciplinary dance artist with broad international experience, recognized for her creative vision and commitment to the evolution of contemporary dance. Originally from Xalapa, Veracruz, Mexico, she has trained and worked in institutions across Mexico, Spain, and the United States. She studied at The Ailey School in New York and the Real Conservatorio Profesional de Danza Mariemma in Madrid, experiences that shaped her global perspective. After graduating, she returned to Mexico to complete the “Interacciones Cuerpos en Diálogo” diploma in choreographic production at CASA (Center for the Arts in San Agustín, Oaxaca). In 2015, she received the FONCA Stage Creators grant to produce her choreographic works ISH and Vain. In 2017, she earned her degree in Contemporary Dance with a major in choreography from Universidad Veracruzana.

Nehuian has collaborated with artists and institutions to develop dance and performance works across Mexico, including performance collaborations, virtual projects, and cross-disciplinary productions. She has taught workshops and classes at universities and cultural centers, fostering new generations of dance artists. Her recent projects include the #NosVemosPronto award from the Veracruz Institute for Education and Culture (IVEC) to create the virtual dance piece Memories of an abstract lockdown in 2020, joining the dance ensemble for the short film “De Todas las Flores” with Latin Grammy winner Natalia Lafourcade in 2023, and performing with the Catalonia Grand Costa Mujeres Resort dance team. In 2024, she was invited to teach movement and dance at the 406 Cirque summer camp in Bozeman, MT.

She is currently focused on projects exploring the intersection of movement, art media, and public spaces. As she begins her MFA in Dance at UCLA, Nehuian brings an intercultural perspective and a passion for creative research to her academic and professional work.
