Brisa Smith Flores has earned the Terra Foundation Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Smithsonian American Art Museum. She will examine transnational Afro-diasporic relations within photography through a project titled, "Picturing Diaspora: Tony Gleaton and Familiarity in Afro-Latin Portraiture." She has also earned a Chancellor's Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of California, Irvine. Under the mentorship of professor Bridget R. Cooks, she will expand on her dissertation work during her tenure at UCI.
